Spiritual Insight for 2020 Decade
After watching Lessons from the Bamboo, a TedTalk given by Garr Reynolds, I felt inspired to do a spiritual translation of each lesson. God placed it upon my heart that these lessons will serve as insight and direction for the 2020 decade. Listed below are nines lessons from the Bamboo.
What looks weak, is actually strong.
Spiritual Translation: Although we may be weak in the flesh, we are made strong through our relationship with God.
Biblical Reference: “For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.” Philippians 4:13 NLT
Bamboo bends and does not break.
Spiritual Translation: Trials and tribulations build character and prepares us for our calling.
Biblical Reference: “We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance.” Romans 5:3 NLT
Be deeply rooted, yet flexible.
Spiritual Translation: Be steadfast in your faith. Trust in God’s plan, and put it before your desires.
Biblical Reference (1): “For if we faithful to the end, trusting just as firmly as when we first believed, we will share in all that belongs to Christ.” Hebrews 3:14 NLT
Biblical Reference (2): “Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding.” Proverbs 3:5 NLT
Slow down your busy mind.
Spiritual Translation: Make time for God and his word. Cast all your worries on the Lord.
Biblical Reference: “Do not worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all that he has done.” Philippians 4:6 NLT
Always be ready.
Spiritual Translation: God prepares though who we calls. Make sure you are available to answer.
Biblical Reference: “God uses it (scripture) to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.” 2 Timothy 3:17 NLT
Find wisdom within emptiness.
Spiritual Translation: When you remove distractions from your life, you are able to hear the voice of God with more clarity.
Biblical Reference (1): “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.” John 10:27 NLT
Biblical Reference (2): “Ask me and I will tell you remarkable secrets you do not know about things to come.” Jeremiah 33:3 NLT
Commit yourself to continual growth and renewal.
Spiritual Translation: You are made new through Christ. Put away the desires of your past life and sin.
Biblical Reference: “This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!” 2 Corinthians 5:17 NLT
Expresses usefulness in simplicity.
Spiritual Translation: Always put God first, and everything will be added unto you.
Biblical Reference: “Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.” Matthew 6:33 NLT
Unleash the power to spring back.
Spiritual Translation: Never give up. God will reward you for your sacrifices.
Biblical Reference: “So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.” Galatians 6:9 NLT
