Partnership with God

Are you aware of the power and authority that you have within the Kingdom of God?

There are three aspects to understanding how to establish a partnership with our heavenly Father and creator. Through this relationship with God, we can be confident in our abilities to speak life into our circumstances, heal those stricken by infirmities, and utilize the resurrection power to call forth miracles and blessings in the name of Jesus. This blog will describe the intention of God when He created humans. It will also touch the intervention of how Jesus restored our relationship with God as a sacrifice to overcome sin and death. Lastly, it will describe the convention of how we come into agreement with the Holy Spirit to gain access to our spiritual gifts, power, and authority.

Intention: the purpose of creation.

God created day and night, heavens and sky, land and sea, and animals throughout the first six days of creation. He saw that these creations were all "good." On the 6th day, God created humans, and he said that the creation of man was "very good." Genesis 1:26 describes the commission and initiation of the partnership between God and man. The verse states, "Then God said, "Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us. They will reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, the livestock, all the wild animals on the Earth, and the small animals that scurry along the ground." He created us in His image, man and woman. The first humans, Adam and Eve, were placed into the Garden on Eden, the first depiction of Heaven on Earth. He filled the garden with everything Adam and Eve would need to live a prosperous, fruitful life. God warned Adam not to eat fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil because he would surely die. Ultimately, both Adam and Eve ate the fruit due to falling prey to the deception of satan. Their act brought sin, suffering, and death on Earth. Although they did not die physically, they were spiritually dead because God no longer walked amongst them.

Intervention: Jesus came to restore our relationship with God and give us access to the kingdom.

God became man, through Jesus Christ, to fulfill his promise of using one of Adam and Eve's descendant to strike the head of satan (Genesis 3:15). He was the ultimate sacrifice that allowed us to have access to God's Kingdom on Earth.

Romans chapter 5 provides a detailed comparison between Jesus to Adam. Adam brought destruction, condemnation, sin, and death into this world. While Jesus brought righteousness, a new life, grace, and has made us friends with God. He even says in John 14:6, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." Jesus gained authority in heaven and Earth when he conquered death. Before Jesus returned to be with his Father in heaven, he commissioned the disciples by telling them to Go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, and teaching others to obey the commandments (Matthew 28: 18-20).

Convention: We can come into agreement with the Holy Spirit through Jesus Christ.

When Jesus commissioned the disciples, he promises the gift of the Holy Spirit (Acts 1). The Holy Spirit gives us special abilities to bring God's kingdom on Earth (1 Corinthians 12). These gifts include wisdom, intelligence, great faith, healing, prophecy, discernment, speaking in tongue, interpretation of tongue, leadership, and teaching. The Holy Spirit births a new spiritual life within us and serves as our guide. Even when we are too weak to pray, it will intercede to God on our behalf.

Do you want access to the Holy Spirit? In Luke 11:13, Jesus said that anyone who asks God for the Holy Spirit would receive access. With the Holy Spirit, we can bring the Kingdom of God on Earth. Pray and ask God to receive the Holy Spirit. Allow it to reveal your God-given abilities and gifts. Most importantly, remember the greatest gift of all is love, just as it is the greatest commandment.
